This June, Alejandro Escovedo released his 9th solo album, Real Animal. Produced by Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T.Rex, Thin Lizzy), Real Animal is a collective journey through Escovedo's various musical incarnations from punk rock to string quintets and is as introspective as it is retrospective. Recalling the people, places and influences that helped shape his career, Real Animal represents the primitive aspect of Escovedo's music - the instinct, the urgency and a survivor mentality that fuels his musical passion. World-renowned drummer, composer and author Louie Bellson returns home to the Quad Cities for a special guest performance with the Manny Lopez Band on Wed., October 15 in the Redstone Room at the River Music Experience, 129 Main St., Davenport, Iowa. MVBS Presents: Billy Branch
Blues man Billy Branch will be coming to the Quad Cities beginning October 13th to play a string of FREE performances, including one at Mojo’s. Mr. Branch is also coming to do a “Blues in the Schools” residency program for local schools, as he is one of the originators of the Blues in the Schools program in Chicago. Presented by the Mississippi Valley Blues Society, Mr. Branch will perform in Mojo’s for FREE from 8-9pm.

The Bucktown Revue
“The Bucktown Revue,” an old-fashioned webcast radio variety program, will record its inaugural show in front of a live audience in the Performance Hall at the River Music Experience. The monthly program -- drawing inspiration from such shows as “A Grand Ole Opry” and “A Prairie Home Companion -- features live folk music, poetry and humor. The Barley House Band will be the house orchestra, and Scott Tunnicliff will be the MC for the series. This series will fall on the third Friday of every month through April 2009.
Oct. 17th’s performance features Just 4 Fun (old-time bluegrass), Steve Couch (musical humor), Dave McMillen (poetry), and the Brer Bucktown Traveling Tent Show Dramatic Society, among other special guests. See you there!

Bruce Katz, a 2008 Blues Music Award Nominee for Best Keyboardist, brings his fiery, passionate and very original take on American Blues, Roots and Soul music as part of his CD Release Tour for his new CD, "Live! At the Firefly". Bruce is an acknowledged Hammond B-3 master and acclaimed pianist and brings his top flight band with him. Besides touring with his own band, Bruce actively tours with Gregg Allman and Friends and John Hammond. He has recorded over 60 CDs in his celebrated career.

Polyrhytms’ Third Sunday Jazz Matinee & Workshop Series is pleased to bring Trio X as the Third Sunday Jazz feature artist this month. Trio X features sax player Joe McPhee, bassist Dominic Duval, and drummer Jay Rosen. Their 2008 tour celebrates the 10th anniversary of Trio X as a group.
